About this workshop

About this Course

The compassionate mind foundation is now into its fourth year of running a one-year British Psychological Society endorsed diploma. This facilitates in depth learning of CFT with international trainers and with regular supervision. The diploma begins with a three-day exploration of CFT orientated to the diploma.

Due to popular interest and demand we have decided to open this workshop to those with some experience of CFT and at least 3 years post qualification experience working in the capacity of counselling or psychotherapist. Some experience of using CFT would be an advantage. You will be joining the current cohort of trainees

The workshop will:

Explore evolutionary, biopsychosocial and integrative approaches to mental health difficulties and intervention, and the nature of compassion including insight into the biopsychosocial effects of compassion cultivation on mental health and prosocial behaviour

Outline how the three challenges of life (to protect, acquire resources-control, and rest) are linked to three types of emotion regulation and how compassion motivation can harmonise these systems

Outline the basic algorithm of compassion as 1. Being sensitive to distress and suffering in self and others and; 2. working out how to be helpful. These are supported with competencies such as empathy, distress tolerance, and behavioural engagement.

How compassion processing is linked to attachment systems and how they are recruited into therapeutic interventions

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about this workshop.

I can't attend live, can I watch the recordings after the live broadcast instead?

Due to the interactive nature of this workshop, and particularly that it will contain a lot of group work, we feel you'd be missing too much of its value if you cannot participate live. So all delegates will need to attend live. Any delegates that have signed up but don't attend will not receive a CPD certificate.

Please get in touch at hello@compassionatemind.co.uk if you can now longer attend this workshop and need to change your booking.

Will this workshop be recorded?

Yes, this workshop will be recorded on zoom. Once the workshop has finished all delegates will receive a follow-up email with the links to view these along with any extra resources. These will be available to view for around 3 months post-event. The recordings are edited, so will be made available roughly a week after the workshop has finished.

Can I attend this course without having completed an Introductory workshop?

Yes, this course is suitable for those who are new to CFT, although some knowledge of the basics may be helpful.

Would I get a certificate for this personal practice workshop

Yes we will email certificates of attendance to all attendees, however as this is for personal practice and not for continuing professional development, the certificate will not include any CPD.

What if I am unable to attend?

If you find you are unable to attend this course, please email our admin team via hello@compassionatemind.co.uk as soon as possible. You will be given the option to transfer to another course (within 12 months). Refunds are available if cancellation occurs no less than one month before the start of the course, although we will consider exceptional circumstances.

Will I get a certificate of attendance?

All attendees will received a certificate upon completion of the course. This will be emailed to you, so please ensure that your details are correct on registration.

Our staff will take a register on each day of the workshop and any non-attendees will not receive a certificate. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please get in touch at hello@compassionatemind.co.uk

Can I attend the Clinical Skills without having completed an Introduction to CFT?

This workshop is aimed at those who have a good grounding in the foundations of Compassion Focused Therapy, so we do require that you have completed an Introductory workshop beforehand (please check the topics covered in the Introduction to CFT workshop on our Training Pathway). We generally recommend leaving at least six months between completing an Introductory workshop and attending the Clinical Skills workshop in order to give yourself time to practise with your clients, as this workshop will be aimed to helping you to build on your skills.

Introductory workshops held by other organisations will be accepted, so long as they are at least two days in length, include the topics covered in our Introduction to CFT course, and are led by a recognised CFT trainer. For any queries about this, please email hello@compassionatemind.co.uk

I might have to miss a session due to prior commitments. Can I catch up later?

Yes, this absolutley fine. The workshop will be recorded, and you'll be able to catch up on anything you've missed for up to a month after the live broadcast.
