About this workshop
This live online training is designed for mental health practitioners who wish to develop practical skills in applying Compassion Focused Therapy with people experiencing distressing voices, paranoia, unusual beliefs, and other psychosis-related experiences.
Building on the conceptual foundations introduced in Level 1, participants will learn how to translate CFT principles into therapeutic practice. The training focuses on developing compassionate competencies and using these to support therapeutic change, reduce shame and threat processing, and strengthen compassionate self-identity.
The workshop includes demonstrations and experiential practice using a range of compassion-focused interventions, including parts work, voice dialogue, imagery practices, compassionate letter writing, chairwork, embodiment exercises, role-play, and other experiential methods.
Clinical examples will be drawn from both early intervention and first-episode psychosis services, as well as work with people experiencing longer-standing psychosis-related difficulties.

Yes, this course is suitable for those who are new to CFT, although some knowledge of the basics may be helpful.
This workshop is aimed at those who have a good grounding in the foundations of Compassion Focused Therapy, so we do require that you have completed an Introductory workshop beforehand (please check the topics covered in the Introduction to CFT workshop on our Training Pathway). We generally recommend leaving at least six months between completing an Introductory workshop and attending the Clinical Skills workshop in order to give yourself time to practise with your clients, as this workshop will be aimed to helping you to build on your skills.
Introductory workshops held by other organisations will be accepted, so long as they are at least two days in length, include the topics covered in our Introduction to CFT course, and are led by a recognised CFT trainer. For any queries about this, please email hello@compassionatemind.co.uk
All attendees will received a certificate upon completion of the course. This will be emailed to you, so please ensure that your details are correct on registration.
Our staff will take a register on each day of the workshop and any non-attendees will not receive a certificate. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please get in touch at hello@compassionatemind.co.uk
