About this workshop

‍

This workshop is designed as a follow on for those who have completed an Introduction to CFT for Eating Disorders (CFT-E), and will provide a guided space for participants to practice together, deepen their understanding and build confidence in using CFT-E with their clients. You will learn from Dr Ken Goss, an internationally renowned expert in the treatment of eating disorders, and a key pioneer in the development of the CFT-E approach. Together, participants will explore the principles, philosophy and techniques of CFT-E, how these can be used to help people recover from an eating disorder/disordered eating, and Ken will demonstrate an outline for the clients journey from assessment to intervention. The workshop will involve didactic teaching, role plays and opportunities to practice key CFT techniques. Completion of this training will also enable participants the change to access post workshop supervision, consultation and masterclasses.

Key areas that will be covered include:

· Identifying and working with shame and self-criticism, and how shame and pride can be addressed during therapy

· Learn about CFT-E Formulations and how to use them in therapy

· Helping clients expand their capacity for managing the biological, psychological and social challenges of recovery

· Practicing key CFT-E therapeutic techniques, including soothing and compassionate mind practices.

· Explore how CFT-E can be implemented in the participants work setting.

Meet your instructor

Dr Ken Goss
Clinical Psychologist

Ken a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years experience of working with people with an eating disorder, and was Head of Coventry Eating Disorders. He was a student of Professor Paul Gilbert, a founding member of the Compassionate Mind Foundation, and has worked using this approach since the early 1990s. He pioneered the use of Compassion Focused Therapy in the treatment of eating disorders (CFT-E), and is the author of The Compassionate Mind Approach to Beating Overeating Using Compassion Focused Therapy (which was the first book to outline this approach), and The Eating Well Workbook. He has provided national and international training and supervision, including for the first Randomised Control Trial of CFT for Eating Disorders.

All places booked for our event, must be paid for prior to attending the event unless pre-agreed with management. Please note that we cannot confirm your place until we have received payment.

Should you be unable to attend the event, please contact our admin team as soon as possible via hello@compassionatemind.co.uk. Refunds, less the Eventbrite administration fee, will be made if cancellations are received in writing up to one month before the event. Any cancellations received after this time will not be eligible for a refund, although we will consider exceptional circumstances.  While refunds for failure to attend cannot be made, you can transfer your event fee to a future event that will take place within 12 months of your booking without an additional penalty.
