Diploma in The Science and Application of the Compassionate Mind

Non-Psychotherapist Route

Recruiting now for September 2026

This 8-month course has been shaped by the pioneering work of Professor Paul Gilbert OBE, the founder of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). Rooted in robust evolutionary and psychophysiological science, this course explores how our threat, drive, and soothing systems shape human experience—and how compassion can be intentionally cultivated as a motivation, a skillset, and a way of relating to ourselves and others.

Originally developed in clinical settings, Professor Gilbert’s model has global relevance. This course brings those powerful, evidence-based principles to life across a wide range of professional fields, offering you a unique opportunity to join an international community committed to advancing a science-based approach to compassion.

Designed with care, the programme balances theory and experiential practice, ensuring learning that is practical, meaningful, and deeply relevant to your everyday work. You’ll be supported as a compassionate learner within a warm, collaborative environment that values curiosity, shared discovery, and critical inquiry—learning with others, not just alongside them.

If you’re ready to deepen your understanding, expand your skills, and become part of a growing global movement in compassion science, we’d love to welcome you. Get in touch at CMTDiploma@compassionatemind.co.uk — the course team is happy to help and can arrange a call if needed.
