Research funding

Research Funding

We are delighted to announce that the foundation now has a small fund that is available for research to support the aims of the foundation:

“Promoting wellbeing through facilitating the scientific understanding and application of compassion” We are particularly interested in activities such as :

- Research studies (up to £4,000 per project)
- Pilot projects which could lead to larger funding applications (up to £4,000 per project)

Research studies and presentations must be focused on this particular model of compassion, not compassion in general.  Studies could look at processes of compassion, measurement of compassion, treatment interventions and innovations.  Only projects that have a chance of impact and publication will be considered and it is expected that publications will acknowledge the funding source.

As we are a charity, successful applicants will need to account for their expenditure as required by the Charities Commission.  The funding will need to be used within an agreed time period. Grant funds may not be used to cover indirect costs. If a grant is awarded, the applicant’s organisation/institution must agree to waive all overhead and administrative fees, and further agree that the funds will be used solely for research purposes conducted by the applicant.

Successful applicants will be asked to feedback to the Foundation on the activity undertaken.  If the Foundation takes the view that after a reasonable time has passed without efforts for publication (approximately 1 year after completion of the study) the data will revert to the foundation for publication.

Applications will be considered by Prof Paul Gilbert and the research panel of the Compassionate Mind Foundation, with external advice if necessary.
