Compassion Focused Therapy is a motivational and integrative approach to working with shame and self-criticism, manifest in a broad range of psychological and emotional difficulty. As a model of human suffering and wellbeing, CFT is now being used in a wide range of clinical settings, from primary care to secure forensic services. This workshop will cover working across the spectrum of complexity and setting, but with a particular focus on working with complex relational difficulties.
CFT is concerned with the development of specific motivational systems connected with affiliation and compassion, as such groups-based interventions offer a unique opportunity for exposure to and cultivation of compassion across the flows.
There will be opportunities for group-based therapy supervision, process driven role play demonstrations and practice of some of the key techniques involved in delivering CFT in groups.
This workshop shall explicitly cover and experientially work with the following:
Following this workshop participants are entitled to apply to join the compassion focused therapy and wellbeing discussion list which is an international list for individuals who are committed to compassion focused therapy. There is also a CFT for Groups Google group and access to a CFT for groups monthly supervision (online).
